The human brain as a model for innovative computer hardware – this is Neuromorphic Computing. We aim to learn from the structure of our brain to design computer hardware efficiently for AI applications. Novel materials for "memristors" – components with memory in electrical resistance – enable brain-like circuit architectures for energy-efficient chips that combine computing and storage.

The AI Week offers schools the opportunity to provide their 7th grade classes with a practical and future-oriented project day on the topic of Artificial Intelligence (AI). In cooperation with IT4Kids, students explore the basics of AI by questioning common clichés and playfully understanding how neural networks work. An important component is the critical reflection on the possibilities and limitations of AI technologies. In addition, students acquire basic programming skills using the learning software Cubi. They learn how to automate AI training processes and thus develop important digital skills that will play a crucial role in many future professions.
